Spot the Signs of Phishing!
- Suspicious Sender: Verify the sender’s email address. Be cautious of:
- Impersonation of staff or clients with odd or mismatched email addresses.
- Unusual Links: Hover over the link to reveal the actual URL. Ensure it matches the organisation it claims to be from. Avoid clicking if the URL looks suspicious, mismatched, or contains unusual characters.
- Urgent Requests: Beware of pressure to act immediately, e.g. invoice payments or gift voucher scams.
- Always follow approved internal procedures when paying invoices to avoid falling victim to fraud.
- Requests to buy gift vouchers are a common scam.
- Unexpected Attachments: Only open expected files.
- Errors in Language: Look for spelling mistakes or poor grammar.
- Personal or Commercial Information Requests: Verify before sharing sensitive details.
